PCI Compliance Overview
PCI (Payment Card Industry) Compliance is a set of standards set in place by the major card brands. These standards apply to all merchants who accept credit cards in their business. PCI Compliance applies to any business who processes, stores, or transmits credit card information. The standard was originally adopted in 2006 and requires businesses to complete an annual compliance questionnaire regarding the way credit card information is handled in their office.
AffiniPay has developed an easy to use PCI compliance program for our clients. The program is available online at no additional charge. The online questionnaire is available by visiting www.controlscan.com and clicking Portal Login. You may access the questions by entering in your Merchant ID number and also your password. The online system will store your answers and also give you a compliance certificate when you are done. The answers are stored in our system to make staying compliant as easy as possible for you.
The questionnaire asks how you handle credit card information in your office and verifies that you are not storing credit card numbers electronically. The questionnaire takes 10-15 minutes to complete and is a great business exercise to walk through to ensure everyone in your office knows the best ways to protect your clients.
